STORYLINE:
In the sixth century, the Silla dynasty is the setting of the Korean drama Hwarang. The play traces the travels of a band of youthful, skilled warriors known as the "Hwarang." The monarch selects these warriors to defend the realm and represent the virtues of devotion, valor, and selflessness.
The protagonist of the narrative is Moo Myung, a young man who joins the Hwarang following the death of his mother. He has a burning desire to defend the Silla people and exact revenge for the murder of his mother. He meets and falls in love with Aro, a lovely and kind young woman who is also the queen's daughter, while he trains and joins the Hwarang. The Hwarang manage their own interpersonal relationships and political allies while they train and become ready to tackle numerous dangers to the realm. The young soldiers struggle mightily to uphold their principles and carry out their obligations to the kingdom.
The drama also tells the tale of the queen's battle to keep her position of authority and influence in the royal court. The drama's overarching plot becomes more interesting and compelling due to the political intrigue and complicated connections.
