Set in a fictional ancient Chinese martial arts world, "Word of Honor" follows the story of Zhou Zishu (played by Zhang Zhehan), a skilled assassin known as the Ghost Valley's leader. He was once a member of an infamous organization called the Window of Heaven, which carried out secret missions to maintain peace in the martial arts world. However, after witnessing the organization's corruption and atrocities, Zhou Zishu decides to leave and live a solitary life.
One day, Zhou Zishu encounters Wen Kexing (played by Gong Jun), a charismatic and carefree young man who is also a skilled martial artist.
